Your voice is needed! Want to make a difference in the City of Westminster? Join us monthly for the Youth Advisory Panel where you get to impact how we support teens in our local community.

The Youth Advisory Panel's (YAP) purpose is for teens to provide feedback and advice to the City of Westminster community, enabling them to develop new skills and foster connections that support them in becoming impactful citizens.

Who can join YAP?

  • Teens that are residents of the City of Westminster
  • Teens who are in 8th grade through 12th grade (including homeschoolers)

What does YAP do?

  • Community service project(s) and other opportunities to volunteer.
  • Monthly meeting where your voice can be heard by city officials and other representatives. Hear from members of the community and city.
    • All time spent on YAP meeting, retreats, and summits counts towards volunteer hours.

When and where are the monthly YAP meetings?

  • When: 2nd Wednesday of each month, September through May, 6-7:30 p.m.
    • August 2024  Meeting will be on Wednesday, August 7th at the time above. This is due to the Volunteer dinner on August 14th.
  • Where: Westminster City Hall, Colorado River Room formally known as the Multi-Purpose Room, 4800 W. 92nd Ave., Westminster, 80031. This room is located on the lower level of City Hall.

How to apply:

What leadership opportunities are available in YAP?

Note: All persons who hold a Chair or Vice Chair position. All Panel Members holding leadership positions will be responsible for attending an Officer meeting prior to the regular YAP meeting.

  • Chair (leadership role): Responsible for written records of the panel, helps prepare meeting agendas with Staff Liaison.
  • Vice Chair (leadership role): Assumes duties of the Chair in their absence, helps Staff Liaison with other duties as needed/as desired.
  • Secretary (leadership role): Notifies members of meetings, prepares written records of meetings to send to Liaison and other members.
  • General members: Actively participates in meetings and activities; while this is not a leadership position, this is still a very important role to play.

  • General members: Actively participates in meetings and activities; while this is not a leadership position, this is still a very important role to play.
  • Community Service Subcommittee: Helps organize and communicate about optional volunteer opportunities.
