The library offers free programs and events for children and families, teens and adults. Programs include special events, ongoing clubs and classes, story time, reading programs, and more. This is a key part of Westminster Public Library's mission to:

  • Provide programming that is responsive to the changing needs of the community.
  • Respond to the community's need for personal growth and development by providing opportunities for life-long learning through services, facilities, outreach, programming, and collections.

Library programs are made possible with funding from The Friends of the Westminster Public Library.

The purpose of the Friends is to advance and encourage literacy among our Westminster community, both youth and adults, through experiences in theater, dance, music and visual arts, to promote the Westminster Public Library to the Westminster community, to engage in activities which will generate financial support for the Library’s services to the community, and to confer with the Westminster Parks, Recreation Library and Open Space Board and Westminster Library staff on matters relating to the welfare of the institution.

The Friends raise money to enhance library services. Besides the Gift and Used Book Shop at College Hill, the Friends has several shelves of fine used books for sale at Irving Street Library. Special book events are held at both library branches throughout the year.
