Mission Possible 2024

Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May to raise awareness about building safety. This month’s theme is “Mission Possible”

Week 1 - We kick things off by covering the basics of building safety and sharing a bit about Building Safety Month.

Week 2 -Let's focus on how building safety impacts our everyday life and highlight the things we can do at home to stay safe.

Week3 - Let’s explore how building safety professionals impact our everyday lives at home or at work!

Yes. For several reasons:

  • For your personal safety and that of your family and guests.
  • To protect future purchasers who deserve reasonable assurance that the home they will buy will be safe.
  • To ensure the economic well-being of the community by reducing potential spread of fire and disease.

Obtaining a building permit alone will not assure the work has been done correctly.  Inspection of the work is the most important part of the process.  Having the work inspected will provide you with the assurance that the work has been properly completed. This will also provide a permanent record of compliance with building code requirements.

Building permits provide the means for city building inspectors to inspect construction projects to ensure that minimum standards are met and appropriate materials are used. Inspection is the only way to independently verify that you comply with the adopted building codes. As a homeowner, you have a substantial investment that can be seriously jeopardized through less-than-complete code compliance. For insurance reasons, resale, refinancing and peace of mind, obtaining a permit is the right decision.

    Xcel Energy Design Assistance Program

Xcel is offering an assistance program that helps include energy savings in the planning and design phase of your project.  For more information see the Energy Efficient Design Resources on the Westminster Sustainability webpage.
