The City of Westminster is working diligently to replace the previous playground at Irving Street Park, which was destroyed by a fire in July 2022. During the fall of 2022, the Parks, Recreation, and Libraries Department hosted a community BBQ at the site and initiated an online survey to get feedback from residents about what should be rebuilt.
The community selected a playground theme of ARTS AND EXPLORATION and the design process began.
Final design and engineering plans were completed in January 2024. The renovation will include a new playground and an outdoor classroom.
Construction Updates:
-Demolition work of the previous playground foundation will begin the week of August 12th
-Installation of the new playground equipment will begin the week of August 26th
-Playground poured-in-place surfacing is anticipated to be completed in late summer/early fall
-The City is currently reviewing bids for the new outdoor classroom portion of the project. More information to come.
