Waterline Replacement Projects

Each year, our water utility construction crews work to replace water mains throughout the city. This work typically takes place in neighborhoods and side streets. The end result is a more resilient water distribution system and fewer water main breaks in your neighborhood. Please see below for our active projects:

  1. Northridge Manor Waterline Replacement Project
  2. Meadow View Estates  & Westminster hills open space waterline project
  3. Legacy Ridge Waterline Project

This project has been paused for the rest of 2025 due to emergency repair work. The city anticipates resuming work in summer of 2026.

The water mainline has been replaced and work has been completed along the following roads:

  • Raleigh St
  • 90th Ave

The following roads will be completed when work resumes:

  • Tennyson St
  • Stuart St
  • Utica St
  • Utica Ct
  • Vrain St

Regular working hours during the construction period will be Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. During construction, crews might need to block your driveway. If that happens, they will give you advance notice, and they will re-open your driveway at the end of each work day.

Please watch for detours and no parking signs. We will direct traffic away from the work zones for everyone’s safety.

What to expect when crews are installing a water line:

  • A utility locate service identifies existing utilities in the street (such as gas and electric mains).
  • A contractor roto mills a 48-inch trench in the street where the water main is to be installed.
  • The new main will undergo a bacteria test and a pressure test. During this process, water will be flushed from a fire hydrant or blowoff assembly.
  • After testing is complete, workers will connect the individual home services to the main.
  • The old main, valves, and fire hydrants will be removed or left in place, and the trench will be compacted to ensure no settling.
  • During the project, your water may be turned off throughout the day. Crews will attempt to notify residents prior to any water shut-offs. In the event of an emergency, the water could be turned off without notification.
