Water Supply Line Project

What’s Happening Now

February 2026

As soon as Monday, February 23, crews will begin installing waterlines on Old Wadsworth Boulevard at 92nd Avenue for the Water Supply Line Project. In the coming weeks, you will notice traffic control and heavy machinery in the area. Please expect heavy congestion and travel delays.

To minimize impacts during school pickup and drop-off for Mandalay Middle School and Semper Elementary School, please consider using alternate routes to access 96th Avenue.

We understand construction and detours are inconvenient, and we will work as safely and efficiently as possible to mitigate traffic impacts.

Construction will continue in phases as work progresses along the alignment. Please note that construction is dependent on weather, material availability, and field conditions. Timelines are subject to change.

About the Water Supply Line

The Water Supply Line is a new underground pipeline that will transport untreated water from Standley Lake to the new Westminster Boulevard Drinking Water Facility. This pipeline is a key component of the City’s long-term investment in maintaining a reliable drinking water system and supporting the delivery of clean, safe, and affordable water to the community.

Why the Water Supply Line Is Needed

Westminster’s existing water infrastructure is aging and must continue to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements and evolving source water conditions. The Water Supply Line will provide a reliable connection between the City’s water supply and the new treatment facility, improving operational resiliency and supporting the City’s ability to meet future drinking water needs.

What to Expect During Construction

As construction begins, the City is making every effort to minimize inconvenience and to complete work as efficiently and safely as possible. Construction will generally occur Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., although some evening or weekend work may be required at certain stages of the project.

Residents and travelers may experience temporary traffic lane and sidewalk closures, increased construction vehicle activity, and the presence of heavy equipment. Some noise, dust, and vibration should be expected during active construction periods. The City will continue to coordinate closely with nearby schools and affected property owners to help maintain safety and access as work progresses.

Updates will be provided throughout construction, and advance notification will be shared when work is scheduled to begin in specific areas.

Construction timelines are subject to change based on weather, materials, and field conditions.
