Building
The Building front office is available 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. We offer walk-through times for residential permit reviews on Tuesdays from 1 pm to 4:30 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to noon. Building permits must still be applied for through eTRAKiT, the online permitting system.

Announcements from Building Division
Please note - the review time for Building Commercial permits has changed and is now set at 30 business days for initial review and 15 business days for subsequent reviews.
Beginning May 1st 2026, a General Contractor as well as Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical Subcontractors shall be registered with the City and signed on to the permit (as applicable) prior to the permit release.
March 2 through March 6, Building Division staff will be attending CCICC Education Institute. Staffing levels will be impacted and inspections are not guaranteed. During this week, walk-through times will not be provided. Thank you for your patience as we continue our code education.
As of August 1, 2026, the 2026 National Electric Code (NEC) will go into effect in the City of Westminster.

Inspection of your work is the most important part of the process. Having your work inspected will provide you with the assurance that the work has been completed properly. Inspection also provides a permanent record of compliance with building code requirements.

Residential Plan Review
Please note: fire suppression and fire alarm permits will no longer be accepted as deferred submittals. These permits must be applied for separately through the fire department at the time of building permit application. For questions, please contact the Building Division at 303-658-2075.
