Our Department

Westminster Fire Department (WFD) is an all-career, all-hazards municipal department comprised of 153 personnel. The department responds to more than 17,000 calls a year. WFD operates six fire stations throughout the City of Westminster to quickly respond to calls for service including:

  • Water rescues, hazardous material incidents, technical rescues, and other emergency responses.
  • Advanced life support emergency medical and ambulance transport services.
  • WFD operates with:
    • Eight ambulances with three serving in reserve status
    • Seven fire engines with three serving in reserve status
    • Three trucks with one serving in reserve status
    • One heavy rescue
    • Two wildland trucks
    • One dive van and boat
    • One Utility Terrain Vehicle
  • WFD prepares for and responds to large-scale disasters through the City's emergency management program, managed by the Fire Department.

Accreditations

WFD has been awarded accredited status through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, which demonstrates that WFD meets or exceeds industry best standard practices. The City of Westminster also achieved Class 1 status through the Insurances Services Office (ISO), which is the highest rating that a city/fire department can attain. WFD is proud to serve the community with both of these accreditations that only 0.04% of fire departments across the United States and Canada have achieved.
