Project Overview
McKay Lake Trail and Parking Lot are currently closed for a site improvement project. Our goal is to upgrade the McKay Lake trailhead and nearby trails utilizing an approach that respects the natural setting of open space but also recognizes that amenities are needed to enhance visitor needs and experiences.
Work is estimated to be complete at the end of April 2026.
Check out the project goals below:
- Improve Trail Conditions
- Create new trails and realign existing trails for enhanced access and functionality. We will also correct drainage issues through site grading or introduction of site features (e.g., culverts, bridges, and boardwalks).
- Add ADA Accessibility
- New Trailhead Amenities
- Expand the parking lot capacity and add signage, paved pathways, porous surfacing, shelters, a restroom, and furnishings.
- Expanded Drainage Capabilities
- Redesign the drainage channel to the west and south of the parking lot to better accommodate drainage needs.
