The City of Westminster assists residents and businesses reduce material waste and provides information, resources, and services to assist with proper and safe disposal.

The City of Westminster does not provide citywide trash pickup service. All licensed private trash collection providers must offer both curbside trash collection and recycling to all customers. Services and fees will vary. A list of trash and recycling providers can be found below:

Complaints? If you have a complaint about a trash or recycling collection service provider, contact that provider directly to resolve the issue. You may submit any complaints, in writing, to the attention of the City Clerk's Office. Letters can be mailed to 4800 W 92nd Avenue, Westminster, CO 80031 or sent via emailing the Licensing Department. All written complaints will be taken into consideration when licenses are up for renewal at the first of each year.
Are You A Waste Service Provider? Private trash collection and recycling providers are required to obtain a Solid Waste/Recycling Collector License (PDF) from the city. The licensing process allows the provider to operate within the city, but does not constitute any endorsement of the services provided by these companies.
Westminster does not offer a large item pickup program at this time. Residents may contact their trash hauler or one of the many junk haulers listed below that service the area for information on recycling and disposing of large items.
The Westminster sustainability center accepts mattresses, box springs, electronics, and other items for a fee.

Westminster Sustainability Center
The Westminster Sustainability Center is a centralized recycling site that offers single stream recycling drop-off, as well as collection of hard-to-recycle and reuse items.
- Please note: In order to ensure high-quality service, single-stream recycling is now reserved for Westminster residents only. Hard-to-recycle and reuse services remain available to everyone.

The city has contracted with Waste Management At Your Door Special Collection, Inc. to collect household hazardous waste directly from your home by appointment free of charge within program limits.
How the Program Works:
- Residents must have at least three different materials before scheduling an appointment (see materials list on the Waste Management At Your Door website).
- If you have paint, you must have more than three gallons, in addition to two other materials for disposal.
- Paint - If you have paint, visit PaintCare to find a drop-off site near you.
- To schedule your collection appointment: call 800-449-7587, email AtYourDoor, or visit the Waste Management At Your Door website.
- Prior to your appointment date, you will receive a collection bag to place your non-recyclable materials in for pick-up. Recyclable hazardous materials in containers five gallons or smaller must be placed outside of the bag.
- On the date of collection, place materials by your garage or front door before 7 am

The City of Westminster does not provide compost collection or services to residents or businesses. Services need to be contracted directly with one of the licensed providers listed below:
Reuse Service Providers
- SustainAbility Recycling Center: The drop-off center accepts many items that are reused by local businesses and industry.
- Ridwell: Divert hard to recycle items from the landfill through reusing and recycling common household materials.
- TerraLoop: Looking to divert items with value from the landfill like furniture, vinyl banners, art supplies, plants? Look into TerraLoop, where your business can create profiles using a mobile app where items are listed for pick-up by other businesses.
Residents are encouraged to recycle their tree limbs for free to reduce landfill use and provide valuable mulch. Limb chipping and free mulch are available for Westminster residents.
Hours
Open on the second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon, March-November. Closed for winter December-February.
The wait to drop off limbs is always longest at the beginning of the event. To avoid the line, residents are encouraged to arrive later in the morning.
Westminster Residents Only
Please bring proof of Westminster residency, such as a driver's license, Colorado I.D. showing Westminster address, utility bill, rent receipt or mortgage statement. No contractors.
What You Can Bring
- Tree limbs can be any length, but must be less than 20 inches in diameter. Loads must be covered or tied down.
- Shrubs are allowed if the root ball has been removed.
- No construction materials, bags of leaves or grass clippings. Wood fencing or any other wood products are prohibited.
- Other than free mulch, all materials, firewood, pavers, and supplies at the facility are for internal City use only and will not be given away.
Inclement weather
The limb recycling/mulch pickup could be closed due to inclement weather and excessive moisture. Check the event calendar for cancellation/rescheduling information.
Self-Serve
Off-loading of tree limbs is self-serve.
Mulch
When available, residents can pick up mulch on the second Saturday of the month while supplies last. Call 303-658-2192 for mulch availability. Mulch can be self-loaded into your containers, or staff can load mulch into the back of your pickup. The City is not liable for any vehicle damages while loading mulch.

Discharge is allowed only at the Big Dry Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 13150 Huron Street and in the manner designated by the City of Westminster. The city reserves the right to set and modify the specific times for use of the dump station and to refuse any discharge. Only the discharge of wastewater from the kitchens and personal sanitary conveniences of recreational vehicles is allowed. Failure to comply with these guidelines or Westminster Municipal Code, Title 8, Chapter 10, is subject to administrative and judicial enforcement, including fines of up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year. Prohibited discharges are also subject to enforcement under state and federal law.

- Westminster Resident: $25
- Non-resident: $50
Access cards can be purchased at Westminster City Hall at the cashier counter. City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Cash, checks and credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, and American Express) are accepted. City Hall is located at 4800 West 92nd Ave., Westminster, CO 80031. Please bring a copy of your water bill and your driver’s license with you for determining your resident status.
