Construction Updates

DECEMBER 2025- Playground construction is complete and the park is now open! Still to come are new benches that will be installed in the next few weeks.

NOVEMBER 2025- Playground improvements are on the way! Demolition is scheduled to begin Monday, November 17, 2025. During this time, contractors will secure the construction area, install environmental protections to safeguard the creek and nearby trees, and begin removing the old equipment to make room for new features.

The trail will remain open throughout construction, and trail users are encouraged to follow posted detour signs for everyone’s safety.

Work is expected to be completed by January 2026, weather permitting.

OCTOBER 2025- The new playground will feature two distinct play zones designed to support different play styles and comfort levels. One area will offer ground-level, gentle interactive elements that encourage exploration, creativity, and imaginative play in a safe and supportive environment.

The second area is designed for children who seek more adventurous play. It includes taller, more complex structures that invite climbing, balancing, and active movement, all supporting healthy risk-taking and the development of strength, coordination, and confidence.

ADA accessibility is a top priority in the design, with features that exceed national standards.  This ensures that children of all abilities can fully engage with the playground and play alongside their peers, creating a more inclusive and welcoming space for everyone.

The entire playground is themed around native prairie animals. Throughout the space, children can discover fun facts and colorful illustrations of local wildlife, sparking curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the natural environment. All educational signage is in both English and Spanish, making the experience accessible and enriching for more families in the community.

The playground installation is anticipated to be completed by November 2025.
