City terminates face covering order, state and local mandates remain in effect

In an effort to remain consistent and align with state and local health orders, the Westminster City Council terminated the Westminster Face Covering Order (Resolution 2020-17A) on April 12, 2021. While the city order has been terminated, state and local public health mask mandates remain in effect.

The Westminster Face Covering Order was issued by City Council on May 11, 2020 due to inconsistent public health orders from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), Tri-County Health Department (TCHD), and Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH).

Recently, the state, Tri-County Health Department, and Jefferson County Public Health have adopted consistent public health orders addressing the wearing of face coverings in each of their respective jurisdictions, which collectively encompass the city of Westminster. The current orders have adopted common definitions of those required to wear face coverings, what constitutes a Public Indoor Space, and ended mandatory face covering requirements for people who are outdoors.
