Free Workshops on How to Open Your Own Business

Free Workshops on How to Open Your Own Business

Have you dreamed of starting your own business, but have no idea where to even begin? The City of Westminster wants to help you with that. We are partnering with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to offer a free, two-part training series that will introduce you to the basics of starting your own business, and how to work with the City to make your dreams a reality.

The first part of the training is a virtual webinar that has been designed as a starting place for anyone who is considering jumping into business for the first -- or seventh -- time. This seminar will provide you with a general overview of things to consider when starting a business. It takes place Thursday, May 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon and you can find more information and register here.

The second part of this free training series is an in-person workshop that will take place at City Hall. Join us Wednesday, May 11 in the City Council Chamber on the main level at 7:30 a.m. for some breakfast and networking. From 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. you’ll meet City representatives who will walk you through the steps you need to take with the City to make your dreams a reality. In addition, you’ll learn about programs the City provides to help businesses once you are up and running.

We’re not only encouraging entrepreneurs to attend – current business owners who want to learn more about business resources, or just want to network with other businesses and City staff are welcome to attend. And you can attend the first training, or the second training – or both! No prerequisite is required.

For more information on both trainings, visit the Business Trainings page on the Westminster Economic Development website. Questions? Email Shelby Wood with the Economic Development Department at
