City of Westminster Secures 19th Digital Cities Survey Award

City of Westminster Secures 19th Digital Cities Survey Award

The City of Westminster has proven yet again that strengthening cybersecurity and improving digital, citizen, and government experiences through technology is a top priority. For the 19th year, the City has achieved a top-ten ranking nationwide in the Center for Digital Government’s Digital Cities Survey. The survey recognizes the efforts of cities across the U.S. to improve and implement technology programs and plans for staff and residents.

In the 2022 survey, the City of Westminster ranked second in the 75,000-124,999 population category. The high ranking reflects the City’s Information Technology Department’s dedication to advancing technology in several areas including citizen engagement and regional collaboration.

“A high place finish in the annual Digital Cities Survey is important both to the City and residents because it recognizes a critical alignment of priorities, policies, strategies, and technology solutions,” said Emily Littlejohn, information tech director for Westminster. “It is affirmation that the City is not only successful but excels, at driving technology solutions that positively impact the community.

The Center for Digital Government recognized many City projects that contributed to the second-place ranking including opening a new data portal, creating a new system for sharing 911 dispatch information between jurisdictions, implementing a new utility billing and account management portal, and a new sales tax system.

The national institute also focused on Westminster’s commitment to cybersecurity, noting the City’s work to advance multifactor authentication and collaboration with local jurisdictions on a shared managed security service.

2022 was the 19th year that Westminster submitted a survey for the award, the 19th time it has achieved a top-ten ranking nationwide, and the second time it has received a second-place award.
